A week of intensive searches in the Serres region has yet to yield any trace of the missing 45 year old commander of the Ano Porroia Fire Service. Investigators are now preparing to reassess every piece of information gathered so far in order to conduct more focused operations.
Rescue teams covered wide stretches of terrain around the Krussia Mountains the foothills of Mount Belles and parts of Lake Kerkini although shifting weather conditions hampered progress. Officials overseeing the effort reported that despite extensive coverage no significant development has been recorded.
A handwritten note discovered in a jacket belonging to the missing officer has drawn particular attention. The message listed the names of his wife and two children with each name followed by the phrase I love you raising concern about his emotional state before he disappeared.
Digital records retrieved from the cloud account linked to his smartwatch have provided investigators with detailed information about his recent routes along with indicators of heightened psychological strain. Among the recorded movements was an unusual path not previously known to authorities which is now under close examination.
The missing commander identified as Konstantinos Ginis was reportedly sleeping only 2 to 3 hours per night in the days leading up to his disappearance and appeared increasingly anxious. His wife notified police after realizing he had been absent for more than 24 hours and had not reported for duty.
He left home without his mobile phone wallet or bank cards taking only his car before heading in an unknown direction. Police investigators have interviewed family members and colleagues as they explore all possible scenarios surrounding his disappearance.
