Strong winds prevented 2 major ferries from reaching Milos, stranding 1,641 passengers awaiting updates.

Ferries Unable to Reach Milos as Severe Winds Cause Major Disruptions

Strong gusts disrupted maritime traffic around Milos on Friday, leaving 1,641 passengers unable to reach the island.

Severe winds prevented the Knossos Palace, carrying 639 travellers, from safely approaching the port.

Harsh conditions also forced the Festos Palace, transporting 1,002 passengers, to abandon its docking attempt.

Another modern vessel, the Blue Star Patmos, was referenced by port officials as an example of ships better equipped to handle similar adverse conditions.

Authorities confirmed that all affected passengers are waiting for alternative transport, though no timeline has been established for their continuation.

The Knossos Palace had been serving the Piraeus Milos Heraklion route when weather conditions deteriorated.

Meanwhile, the Festos Palace had departed Heraklion bound for Milos and Piraeus before facing the same powerful winds.
