A 13 year old girl reported that 2 teenagers attempted to assault her after giving her cannabis prompting a police investigation.

A 13 year old girl has reported that 2 foreign teenagers attempted to sexually assault her on 29 12 after giving her cannabis. Investigators say the suspects aged 16 and 17 allegedly provided the substance to disorient her with the intention of exploiting her.

Police sources indicate that the girl and a 15 year old friend had visited the home of one of the boys whom they had recently met through social media. Officers were told that the girl experienced dizziness and near fainting after consuming the cannabis.

Her mother managed to locate her through a tracking application installed on the girls mobile phone allowing authorities to intervene. The minor was transported to the Agia Sofia Childrens Hospital where doctors found her in relatively stable condition before she later filed a formal complaint.

The Juvenile Protection Department has taken charge of the investigation and officers arrested both teenagers shortly after the report. The 17 year old was detained on suspicion of attempted rape while the 16 year old was released due to a lack of incriminating evidence.

A forensic examination has been ordered to determine whether sexual assault occurred and a prosecutor has launched a preliminary inquiry. Police also recorded the statement of the 15 year old companion who told investigators that no one attempted to harm her.
