A serious traffic accident unfolded early Friday morning at the intersection of Eleftheriou Venizelou and Agnoston Martyron streets in Nea Smyrni. Two cars collided on the tram tracks under circumstances that remain unclear.
Fire crews reached the location quickly with two trucks and six firefighters who began efforts to free the trapped occupants. Both injured individuals were transported to hospital by EKAV ambulance teams.
Additional information emerged when the mother of one injured person stated that her son felt dizzy while returning home with a friend. He reportedly told her he slipped and lost control of the vehicle.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what caused the collision.
